Are You Cursed With Eating Disorders?
Who didn’t hear about “Eating Disorders” before? What’s it? And how to know if you are cursed with this disorder?
Eating disorders are considered as a mental issue. When something hurts you & affects your mental health and you can’t handle it, you start to not eat or eat too much, this is what eating disorders are!
Eating disorders come from how you eat, quantity that you eat, and what kind of food you eat. When these change, our behavior changes.
We have 5 types of eating disorders:
1- anorexia nervosa
People here have 2 behaviors, first is to not eat & do a lot of workout & exercises to lose weight.
Second is to eat too much until they get to intentional vomiting.
2- Food restriction
In this type, people reduce the amounts of food that they usually eat, and thus a very significant weight loss occurs until they get health fatigue, and if a child suffers from it, it reduces the child’s growth than its normal range.
Also, people who suffer from this disorder cannot share food with those around them, whether on a happy occasion, for example, or an invitation, or even hanging out with their friends.
3- Bulimia nervosa:
People here eat a lot of food even when they are not hungry, and when they suddenly realize they need to lose weight, they start fasting or engaging in strenuous sports. In this type, people are so obsessed with losing weight that they worry excessively about it. As a result, they weigh themselves daily and put their bodies in dangerous situations.
4- Bizarre eating disorder
In this type, people eat inedible substances like paper, clay, etc., which causes major stomach issues or poisoning.
Patients with mental illnesses like schizophrenia, autism, and impairments are mostly prone to this condition.
5- Binge eating disorder
People with this disorder completely lose control over the amount of food that enters their bodies to the point that they eat unconsciously and even without tasting the food, they eat while they're not hungry at all, and after this, they start to feel guilty towards themselves & towards their bodies and their appearances.
People here don't try to get rid of the food they ate through violent exercise or deliberate vomiting, and as a result of this disorder, they get obese & depressed.
And of course, as a result of all this, they prefer to eat alone, away from people, because they feel embarrassed and ashamed of their bodies.
For them, eating is an attempt to control their feelings, or to run away from certain feelings.
In the end, you cannot diagnose yourself if you have any of these symptoms, but if you feel that the words you read are similar to the way you deal with food, then you need a psychiatrist, or a psychologist, to help you recover from eating disorders.
And be aware that an unhealthy diet is not the cure, it is sometimes part of the problem. Your health is more important than an ideal weight that you reach after sacrificing your mental and physical health.
