"Carerha”.. Flexible Jobs For Women
Being alive means that we will face a lot of challenges in our lives, but some challenges are harder than we may think. When the first baby arrives, mothers start to struggle with the idea of how to take care of their kids, and how to continue their work journey & career. Employers often don’t consider these cases, and so it’s hard for women to find jobs with flexible working hours. From this point, Jessy Radwan, Carerha’s founder, started to help women find job opportunities that can suit their new lifestyle. So, we had an interview with Jessy to tell us more about her project!
How did you get the idea of Carerha?
Four years ago, when my daughter started to go to the nursery, I thought that I should be back on track and return to my work again. It was so hard, and full-time jobs had late working hours. So I thought I should find a job with flexible working hours so I can do both without affecting my daughter.
What were the obstacles that faced you when you started your own business?
Before COVID-19 pandemic, working from home was impossible for a lot of employers, they thought that full time jobs should be on-site. So it was hard for me to convince the employers to offer flexible jobs for women & mothers.
How do you balance between work & personal life?
I usually split my day into two timings, the first is when my kids go to school till 3:00PM, I take a break, and be back again in the evening when my kids fall asleep. And this suited me more.
Who's your biggest supporter in your business journey?
My family, my friends, and my community group “Hire Super Mama” gave me great energy to go on since they have the same challenge & feel the same pain.
Tell us a success story started with Carerha?
The real success story to me is seeing women get advantage of the website, find flexible jobs, and learn new skills.
What's the most valuable advice you can give to a woman who's planning to start her own business?
It’s all about small steps & consistency, since all of us think & dream of so many things, waiting for them to be real & perfect as soon as we can, but consistency is the key to success.
As a woman, what drove you to support other women to find work with flexible working hours?
The pain I went through & my personal experience when I was struggling to find a flexible job. So I needed support from people who feel the same pain, so I created the group.
Do you target a specific educational qualification with your website?
Yes, we target high educational qualifications with basic English skills.
What’s your plan for Carerha?
My plan is to be the main platform in the MENA region that offers opportunities for women with flexible working hours, and also supports them through courses & workshops.
Does the project have a sentimental effect on you? and how?
Yes, it started in an emotional way, and I still remember the day when I created the group. I thought, ``Why should women ignore their dreams because they became mothers?” Why can't I be a good mother & spend time with my kids, and at the same time, follow my dreams & my passion?”
Tell us more about your next event?
The event will be on the 15th of October, 2022. It will be the first initiative event about flexible jobs & gender equality. There will be a lot of workshops and opportunities for startups.
You can check the available opportunities through Carerha website:
