“Fadda Egypt” .. when passion meets the creativity!
Some people believe that we should only have to follow one career and one passion in our lives. And this is definitely wrong; we are capable of much more, and we may be passionate about a lot of things! This is the story of Mai Gamal, the owner of Fadda Egypt. She is 32 years old and founded her own company out of genuine passion and love. So, we had an interview with her to know more about her brand.
Where did you get the idea of Fadda Egypt?
The idea came when I used to sell silver to my friends and people around me on mother’s day when everyone wanted tailored gifts for their moms, so I thought that I can follow my passion & earn from it.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporter is Samar El-Shazly, my partner in Fadda Egypt.
What sparked your passion for jewelry ?
The love of unique pieces from my family and friends, we do not like to have mainstream designs but we love simplicity.
Being a woman, a mom and a full time worker how do you manage to follow your passion for making silver? How do you balance your business with your personal life and job?
I have a 5-year-old kid and I have a full-time job. I usually take care of my kid after work, and then work on my passion; which is making silver.
What's the most valuable advice that you can give a woman who's planning to start her own business?
The advice is to follow your passion till it grows and be your means of earning.
What were the obstacles that faced you when you started your own business?
The biggest obstacle is registering and paying taxes as we do not have the high revenue to be able to cover the registration and taxes and we would be happy if we can help showcase our products and be registered soon.
I would like to know more about your work in Fadda, how do you get the ideas for your designs?
I believe that designs are all about inspiration, so I do look for other designs from around the globe and design after creating a mood board.
What’s your most beloved piece of jewelry to your heart and why?
I love the piece i tailored for my husband having me and my son’s name on it. It’s very special to me & made with extra love and care.
How do you want to inspire other women when they use your jewelry ?
Through self-love, and showing them that we can tailor a piece that they see & love, so it can be part of their character & not just an accessory.
What are your dreams for Fada Egypt?
I wish I can go global. I already sold to clients in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain, but I wish it becomes a regular thing.
