How Writing Will Help You During Your Healing Journey?
I wasn’t okay for a while, so one of my friends got me a notebook and encouraged me to write. I loved it so much, its papers were white that’s closer to yellow. Its cover was purple with lavender flowers. It really had that magical look! I used to write a lot of my thoughts. Sometimes, I note that I had a beautiful day, sometimes I write about a childhood trauma that I can’t get over for like 15 years. Sometimes, I write about how much I feel disappointed in the whole world, and sometimes I write about how this world has a lot of nice things. I used to write, with all pain, with all happiness when I did something I love. This was how writing affected my life, so light, and helped me open up with those things that I hide within me.
Writing will help you open up:
Keeping talks & thoughts in your head isn’t healthy. It will make you prone to anxiety, sadness, and overthinking. If you can’t open up to other people easily, then writing would be perfect for you!
You won’t get embarrassed by your thoughts:
If you find it difficult to say what you really feel, diaries or journals will work perfectly with you. It will help you express yourself & your feelings in a healthy way without feeling embarrassed by anyone or anything.
You will go with some conversations:
Did you ever feel that you need to talk with someone but you can’t for any reason? Or that one of your relationships has ended without a talk or without a goodbye? Writing will help you go with these conversations. These talks will make you feel better.
Will help you understand your feelings:
Sometimes, I only see things from my perspective. When I started writing in a regular way, I think I saw things in a different way. It helped me understand my feelings & understand what I really need.
Will refresh your memory:
Sometimes I feel that I can’t really remember a lot of situations that happened to me in the past as if they didn’t happen or that they aren’t real. And sometimes I recall a lot of things as if they just happened with every single detail, the whole situation, and even its sounds. Writing helped me record these situations so I can feel them again as if I got into a time machine & recalled every single detail.
How To Start Writing?
- Buy a notebook you love & feel that it matches your character
- Start to write whenever you feel that you need to talk
- Make it a habit to get rid of stress
- Write in a real way with truth words from your heart to make yourself feel better.
