Types of Mud Masks and their benefit to the skin
Mud is available in many colors, and each color defines the mask components and its benefits thus defines the reason you use it for and the conditions it treats.
There are plenty of mud masks, and to be able to differentiate between them, we’ll talk about them in simple steps to help you pick the kind that fits your skin.
First: Green Mud:
Green mud is used for oily skin as it absorbs the oil from the skin and modifies its production. Aside from its great healing abilities specially for acne and oily zits.
To make a green mud mask: Mix two tablespoons of green mud with 4 tablespoons warm water, stir until you get a smooth mix that can be applied to your skin easily. Leave it on your skin for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water. Repeat twice a week.
Second: White mud:
White mud strengthens the skin and revitalizes it, it can be used for dry skin and also dry hair as it restores the softness and freshness to the skin. It is also the softest kind of mud which makes it suitable to all skin types even the most sensitive one.
To make a white mud facial mask: Mix two tablespoons of white mud with 4 tablespoons warm water and a spoon of honey, stir until you get a smooth mix that can be applied to your skin easily. Leave it on your skin for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water. Repeat twice a week.
And to make a white mud hair mask: Mix four tablespoons of white mud with a large cup of yogurt, stir until you get a smooth mix that can be applied to your hair easily. Leave it on your hair for 2 hours then wash as usual. Repeat twice a week to nourish your hair and help it become smoother and shiny.
Third : Red mud:
Red mud gets its color from the dominance of the iron in its composition, which makes it rich in necessary nutrients to the body. It activates the blood circulation in the small veins that appear on the skin. This type of mud is used on skin that has thin red lines on it, and is also used for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
To make a red mud facial mask: Mix two tablespoons of red mud with 4 tablespoons warm water ,spread the mask on your skin with a clean brush. Leave it on your skin for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water.
Fourth: Pink mud
Pink mud is ideal for sensitive skin because it’s a mix of red and white mud. It is rich in vitamins and mineral salts. It is also a great treatment for sensitive skin that suffers from redness and irritation.
To make a Pink mud facial mask: Mix two tablespoons of red mud with 4 tablespoons warm water, spread the mix on your skin. Leave it on your skin for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water. Repeat twice a week.
Fifth: Yellow mud
As for yellow mud, it is used for aging skin, because it is rich in manganese which induces collagen production. It is also a great source of iron which provides the cells with oxygen, that is considered a natural anti-aging and helps revitalize the skin.
To make a yellow mud facial mask: Mix two tablespoons of yellow mud with 2 tablespoons warm water and two tablespoons of rose water, spread the mix on your skin on your face, neck and shoulders. Leave it on your skin for 30 minutes then rinse with warm water.
You can also use yellow mud on your hair with castor oil to strengthen weak and tired hair. Repeat this mask twice a week to nourish your hair.
Sixth: Marine mud
This type of mud is distinguished by its ability to maintain skin’s softness, thus guarding it from wrinkles that is mainly caused by skin dehydration and the lack of basic minerals. It is also ideal for dark spots.
To make a Marine mud mask: Mix an equivalent amount of marine mud and lemon juice with one tablespoon of almond oil. Spread the mix on your skin and leave it for 30 minutes then rinse with warm water. Repeat every other day for best results.
