What I know for sure
‘A look at the other version of the story’
- what I know for sure is a book by oprah Winfrey, it was first published on September 2014,and was nominated to Audie audio book of the year 2015,Narration by author or authors.
The book is based on essays previously published in both”O” and Oprah magazine over the past 14 years , so to those of you who are actual followers of Oprah, this book is a treasure. The book is available in hard cover, ebook and is also available as an audio book, for those who are not fans of watching letters forming into words with meaning.
The cover of the book is pretty humble, the book is cloth bound book with a ribbon marker, giving it a sense of grace and preciousness.
The book is divided into 8 sections, joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity and power.
It represents Oprah’s journey of self-finding, how she found her calling, the purpose of her very being on this earth ,and of course, finding peace and harmony with the universe.
The whole idea of finding yourself according to Oprah is to listen to your soul, care for it, make it your number one priority ,stop wanting to please ,impress, or gain acceptance of others, and start wanting to please, accept and impress yourself. And inspite that many people might call this selfishness,it is in fact, the only way you can get to be of actual help to people around you thus, the world.
what I loved about this book is that it gives you another perspective, shows you the other version of the story, where you and only you is in charge of your life’s everything. It’s all on you, no victimizing here.
Acknowledging this fact makes it all different, if you ‘re in charge, you can make the change.
I also loved the way these essays were addressed, the intimate and humble way of showing you the way by opening to you, giving you the wisdom she gained by experience yet not telling you what you should be doing or undermining your problems, telling you we all relate even if not related.Reading this book felt like I’m sitting with an elder friend or relative, drinking coffee and discussing what’s bothering me,while she’s just telling me that this too shall pass, and that it all can change if I only looked at it differently.
‘’What I know for sure’’ is not a life changing book, but it sure gives u insights about how the change should be, where you should be looking.
“I Know for sure: Your journey begins with a choice to get up,step out and live fully” Oprah Winfrey.
