Introduce yourself, please.
Marwa Mohamed Awad Abdellah. I am 41 years old
I have a Bachelor's degree in applied arts and HRD Certificate holder
Where did you get the idea of Yadoum Jewelry?
The idea originated from our eagerness to find generally what really lasts forever.
All of us search for love, peace, a smile, and a true bond.
All of us seek to feel safe, and secure.. to choose what is worth our investment. and what is worth our time, effort, and money.
And believing that we don’t sell products but sell benefits, I decided to start a brand that endorses the meaning of the eternal bond. A brand that’s totally customizable to translate my client's feelings and save their precious moments in luxury jewelry inherited through generations.. That will last forever with them recording their lifetime sincere feelings and memories.
So...I came up with “YADOUM”
Where do you get the inspiration for your pieces?
From my Customers! YADOUM has been built upon a customer-centric strategy. It’s always been inspired by the customer's feelings and the customer's needs. Always focus on how to translate what they wish and make it come true.. like drawing what’s in their mind in special and unique pieces of jewelry.. suitable for each occasion and each age and style.
We tried our best to make their bonds come true and let them have a piece of their own world.
How does jewelry help women express themselves?
Jewelry has played an important role in human life for thousands of years. We learn from history that ancient civilizations appreciated jewelry and it was used to highlight the natural beauty of its wearers. Different pieces were worn to symbolize different messages such as security, wisdom, elegance, and prosperity.
Many women like to wear jewelry as a symbol of femininity or to showcase social status. Jewelry can also make a woman feel confident and beautiful.
We believe also that each jewelry piece can represent every single mood and feel brightly better than any words.. and it’s not an extra.. It's essential for every complete look and occasion.
Show us the closest piece to your heart and tell us if there is a story behind it.
It is Yadoum's Bond Necklace that is inspired by YADOUM’s logo and its meaning, we designed it with love to represent the sincere bond that is always connecting people through a bond stronger than time
What were the obstacles that faced you when you started your own business?
When you start a business with a deep message and clear vision different from the majority of the close competitors, you find it challenging to communicate your brand message and value proposition to your target customers.. to let them be aligned with your brand vision.
In addition to the financial challenges, you face establishing your brand offline or online…
A lot of investment is needed to translate your brand values appropriately.
Tell us what you feel when you see a piece of Yadoum worn by a celebrity.
Of course, it’s honorable and pleasing to gain our adorable celebrities' trust and satisfaction. Special editions and customized pieces are made especially for them representing their own taste and feelings.. and reflecting their unique personalities. It's glorious seeing YADOUM pieces speaking on their behalf, and reflecting their fame and elegance.
Who's the biggest supporter in your business journey?
Our loved ones who have really proven the strength of the bond that we have created.
Our loyal friends who were with us step by step.
My family, of course, and on top of them my sister, My adorable partner Sara.
If you have kids, how do you handle their needs alongside business needs?
I let them be involved with me in all details, to be a part of them.
It’s hard to play all the roles.. but I try to manage my time to do all of my outdoor activities in school time.
And I insisted to share YADOUM's vision together.. to be a common family valuable target.
How do you balance your business with your personal life?
Loving my business enriches my personal life. When you do business with passion in something that you really love, and see its positive impact on people.. you flourish
Tons of power are created inside you! And let you love your life.. and be keen to enjoy each and every single detail of your personal life.
I may have less time.. but it lets me have more desire to live and enjoy my present moment.
How do you support other women through your business?
YADOUM has a clear direction to empower women and help them know their worth and see their inner beauty. It starts from our supporting and motivating content, to translating their needs and wants and making them come true, to offering them a lot of vacancies to shine, unleash their power, and contribute to achieving our grand vision together.
Tell us about your opinion about supporting the local brands in EGYPT.
Of course, supporting local brands in Egypt is very important especially these days, as Many small businesses are run by just one person, so you could be making a huge difference to their business by shopping from them. Also, Word of mouth is one of the most valuable marketing tools for small businesses, so, our brand is keen to spread the word, share the love and support our town.
What has been your favorite part of Yadoum’s journey?
Believing..in ourselves and our small victories, because of our faith in Allah and the life process, that’s normal to have ups and downs.. but always the good is yet to come.
We enjoyed our struggles especially at the very beginning because it’s what led us to where we are today. It wasn’t easy but it challenged our persistence and clear vision to reach our goal.
We respected the learning curve and the ongoing experience, accepting that it’s ok to not to be perfect, and enjoying our human nature and special givens.
And that Success is not final as Failure is not a failure.
My favorite part of the journey is enjoying the journey itself.
What's your plan for Yadoum Jewelry?
To open YADOUM stores all over EGYPT and gain customers' satisfaction to reach a market share of 30% of our target market within the coming 5 years, Then expand globally. And we’ve already started delivering to DUBAI and managed it through our online platforms.
What's the most valuable advice that you can give a woman who's planning to start her own business?
To start. Just start even before being ready. To trust herself and believe that she is unique in her own skin.. and that she can move mountains with her incredible spirit. To fear nothing, and to accept that it’s ok not to be perfect, and it’s enough to try and seek always to be the best version of herself.
